A hand-carved hardwood serving tray of rectangular form with integrated scrolled handles. The upper surface is elaborately worked in relief with a botanical theme, featuring six recessed circular compartments designed as stylized lily pads or lotus leaves, each with fine radiating veined detail. The interstices are filled with deeply carved floral motifs including large layered chrysanthemum-type blooms and smaller rose-like flowers. The tray is constructed from a single dense-grained hardwood board with a dark stained finish, supported on the underside by two longitudinal wooden battens secured with flat-head screws. A handwritten inscription in graphite is present on the underside reading m 9 6 a followed by two illegible characters.
