A large hand-carved serving tray of oval form, constructed from a single board of dark-toned hardwood, possibly teak or sheesham. The upper surface is elaborately decorated in relief, featuring a central elongated quatrefoil medallion enclosed by eight circular sections with scalloped edges. These outer compartments are incised with radial lines resembling lily pads or lotus leaves, and the ground is densely filled with chip-carved foliate and floral motifs in the Anglo-Indian or Kashmiri style. The tray features two integral, pierced handles at the shorter ends. The underside is reinforced with two rectangular wooden cross-battens, secured with recessed metal screws to provide structural stability and prevent warping of the single-piece top.
