An assortment of powder compacts of circular form, primarily constructed from gilt metal effect brass. The collection includes a variety of decorative lids: one featuring an orange-toned guilloché? or faux-tortoiseshell enamel panel within a black and gold scrolling foliate border; another with a central inset porcelain? plaque depicting a pastoral romantic scene of a couple, framed by a black ground with gold-toned vine and yellow berry motifs. A third example is finished in black with hand-painted pink floral sprays, while the fourth features a red and gold floral damask pattern on the lid and a geometric red, black, and cream design to the base. The reverse of the compacts show various engine-turned finishes, including radial and concentric ring patterns. The interiors retain metal frames and some original fittings, though no maker’s names are clearly legible upon the hardware or mirrors.
