A West German? mantel clock of architectural form, featuring a mechanical movement set within a rough-hewn, natural slate case. The stone body displays a raw, riven texture with irregular, rustic edges. This is supported by a substantial cast gilt-metal effect plinth base with four scrolled foliate feet. The circular dial has a cream-coloured chapter ring with black Roman numerals, an outer Arabic minute track, and an ornate openwork gilt-metal hand set. The centre of the dial is decorated with a complex printed foliate and scroll pattern. The dial is printed below the twelve o’clock position with the text WEST-GERMANY. The reverse of the movement is enclosed by a circular gilt-metal effect plate and is fitted with a central winding key and adjustment knobs.
