A late Victorian mantel clock of drum-head form, featuring a wooden case with a dark polished stain and ebonised stepped plinth bases and side mouldings. The circular white enamel dial is set with black Roman numeral hour markers and a railroad-style outer minute track, protected by a decorative engine-turned gilt-metal effect brass bezel. The mechanical movement is operated by a single winding hole located between the three and four o’clock positions and is accompanied by a separate brass-faced pendulum with a suspension hook and adjustment nut. The clock is fitted with two steel hands, including a spade-tipped hour hand. The case features a curved top and block feet to the ebonised base sections.
