A British Home Front commemorative plaque of rectangular form, cast in a plaster? or composite material with a textured, ochre-coloured bronzed finish. The plaque is mounted within a contemporary oak frame. The central high-relief panel depicts a British infantryman in Second World War battle dress, wearing a Brodie helmet and advancing with a Lee-Enfield rifle and fixed bayonet through a stylized landscape of barbed wire and explosions. To the upper left, a raised rectangular cartouche is inscribed FOR FREEDOM, with the date 1944 to the upper right. The lower right section features a multi-line relief inscription reading PRESENTED BY THE WAR OFFICE TO THE LOCAL SAVINGS COMMITTEE IN APPRECIATION OF THEIR SUCCESS IN SALUTE THE SOLDIER WEEK. Centred at the bottom is a relief of the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom.
