A World War II period M6 model periscope manufactured for the US Army Ordnance Department. The unit is constructed with a central green-painted metal housing, flanked by two angled prismatic ends containing glass viewing windows. One terminal is finished in olive drab paint, while the opposing end is finished in black. The side of the central housing features two circular metal mounting lugs for installation within an armoured vehicle. A black and silver metal identification plate is riveted to the side, which bears the printed transcription: PERISCOPE M 6, MINNEAPOLIS-HONEYWELL, REGULATOR COMPANY, NO., 1943. The bottom right corner of the plate is marked with the letters A. R. The periscope exhibits a heavy, robust construction typical of 1940s military optics designed for use in tanks and armoured personnel carriers.
