A Victorian swivel locket brooch of oval form, featuring a two-stratum sardonyx? shell cameo. The hand-carved relief depicts the Three Graces in classical attire upon an integral plinth, set within a rotating central mount. The outer frame is constructed from gilt metal effect tubing, ornamented with six applied leaf and scroll motifs. The reverse of the swivel section contains a glass-covered locket compartment with a dark fabric or paper backing. The brooch is secured by a traditional T-bar hinge and C-clasp mechanism. No marks or signatures are legible on the metalwork or the cameo. The shell shows characteristic natural growth lines and a smooth, polished finish to the carved subjects. Crack to one side.
