A Victorian mahogany? pole screen of traditional adjustable form. The central rectangular frame is constructed from mahogany? with rounded corners, featuring elaborate hand-carved C-scrolls and acanthus leaf motifs at the perimeter. The inset needlepoint panel, set behind glass, depicts a central floral bouquet in muted shades of pink, cream, and blue, surrounded by a delicate foliate border. The screen is mounted upon a slender, turned and fluted mahogany? pole topped with a decorative finial. This is supported by a substantial circular stepped base with carved detailing, raised on three flattened bun feet. The reverse of the frame shows a brass adjustment mechanism allowing the height of the screen to be varied along the central column.
