The piece is decorated in the traditional Imari style, featuring a rich palette of cobalt blue and iron red over a white ground, embellished with extensive 22ct gold gilding. The bird’s plumage is rendered in fine geometric scale patterns and scrolling motifs, with a solid gilt finish to the beak and tail details. The underside features a recessed circular silver-coloured stopper embossed with a central crown and cypher logo, surrounded by the text ROYAL CROWN DERBY ENGLISH BONE CHINA. The piece is accompanied by its original navy blue presentation box, which features a white adhesive label printed with the text PAPERWEIGHT and DERBY WREN, alongside the manufacturer’s name in gold-tone ink.
