A Moorcroft earthenware bowl of shallow, circular form with an inverted rim. The vessel is decorated in the Pomegranate pattern, featuring hand-painted and tubelined motifs of sliced and whole pomegranates, purple grapes, and autumnal leaves in shades of red, olive green, and ochre against a deep cobalt blue ground. The base is finished in a pale green glaze and is impressed with the word MOORCROFT in capital letters. Below this, the words MADE IN ENGLAND are impressed in two lines next to the impressed numerals 782. A hand-painted initial in green pigment, possibly a J?, is also present on the underside. The base exhibits three small, circular kiln stilt marks from the firing process.
