A George V sterling silver five-bar toast rack of rectangular form, designed to accommodate four slices. The piece features four curved, arched dividers and a central handle with an oval finger loop. The construction consists of a flat-section wire frame supported by four short, angular feet. The base rail is struck with a series of hallmarks in shaped cartouches, including the maker’s mark S.B&S LTD in a shaped cartouche, possibly for S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd?, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and a lowercase letter u date letter corresponding to 1919.
