A late Victorian half-hunter pocket watch featuring a fine silver case with an engraved foliate and scalloped design. The outer case is detailed with a blue enamel chapter ring presenting Roman numerals I-XII surrounding a central circular aperture. The interior reveals a white enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers and a railroad-style outer minute track, fitted with blued steel hands including a beetle and poker hour hand. The manual wind, key-wind and key-set movement is housed behind an inner silver dust cover with two winding apertures. The interior of the case is stamped with the words FINE SILVER and the serial number 55148, which is repeated on the dust cover. A hand-scratched mark reading 312 x 18 is also visible. The watch is presented in a fitted leatherette case, the silk-lined lid of which is gold-stamped with a crest and the text H.L. Brown & Son Ltd, 70 FARGATE, SHEFFIELD, & AT DERBY DONCASTER, CHESTERFIELD.
