A sterling silver brooch of modernist design, featuring a botanical or floral motif. The head of the brooch consists of a multi-branched structure, with each arm terminating in a small, flat circular disc. Nestled within the branches is a cast profile of a bird. The stem is fashioned to resemble a bamboo stalk, decorated with raised concentric rings at regular intervals. The reverse of the stem bears a rectangular punch containing several marks. The sequence includes the letters GJL in a rectangular cartouche, followed by three further marks: a lion passant? for sterling silver, a leopard’s head? for London, and a lowercase n? for the year 1968. The fineness is further indicated by a separate oval punch reading 925. The brooch is fitted with a hinged pin and a rollover safety clasp mechanism.
