A sterling silver figural brooch designed in the form of a recumbent cat. The piece features an intricate openwork frame with a stylized foliate or veined pattern, decorated using the plique-à-jour enamelling technique. The translucent enamel is rendered in a vibrant gradient of green, yellow, orange, and red. The cat is depicted wearing a collar set with a row of small, round-cut pink/magenta stones, likely rubies? or synthetic corundum?, with matching stones set into the eyes. The silver has a darkened, oxidised patina. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin and a safety roller catch. An incised mark reading 925 is present on the reverse of the silver frame, denoting sterling silver fineness.
