A British industrial respirator set manufactured by Siebe, Gorman & Co. Ltd, featuring the Puretha model gas mask. The facepiece is constructed from dark grey rubber with circular glass eyepieces held by metal rims and a front-mounted exhale valve and speech diaphragm assembly. A fabric-wrapped corrugated breathing tube connects the mask to a rectangular metal canister finished in red enamel. The interior elasticated head harness is stamped in white lettering No. 4 III, B 3/41, PAT. Nos. 296,493 & 305,080. The rubber facepiece bears a circular stamp reading AVON 3-41. The metal canister top is stamped S.G. & Co. Ltd 1941. The set is housed in its original dark grey fiberboard transit case with reinforced metal corners and a carry handle. The front of the case features gold-toned lettering Puretha Gas Mask PATENTED and an adhesive label printed SIEBE, GORMAN & CO. LTD.
