A pair of hand-coloured copperplate engraved strip road maps from the Britannia Depicta series, published circa 1720. The maps are presented in an itinerary format, divided into vertical columns depicting routes through Yorkshire including York, Knaresborough, and Stamford. The compositions feature detailed topographical notations, distances in miles, compass roses, and heraldic crests, including a prominent armorial for the Borough of Stamford. Each print displays a visible plate mark and is enriched with period-style hand-colouring in red, yellow, and blue tones. One map is numbered 17 in the upper right corner, while the other is numbered 237. The reverse of each frame bears a printed white adhesive label reading GUARANTEED AN ORIGINAL ANTIQUARIAN MAP By E. BOWEN PUBLISHED IN 1720. The maps are housed in matching black wooden frames with a gilt-metal effect inner bead and green mounts.
