A heavy cast brass desk accessory or figurine depicting a municipal street sweeper, also known as a road orderly, in mid-20th-century attire. The figure is shown in a dynamic pose, wearing a flat cap and collared jacket, pushing a two-wheeled cart. The cart features two circular hinged? lids on the top surface and twin handles. Behind the cart, the base is textured to represent cobblestones, upon which rests a separate long-handled street-sweeping brush. The underside of the base is fitted with a black protective felt pad. The metal shows a yellowish-gold tone where polished, with significant verdigris and dark oxidation settled within the casting pits and recessed areas of the figure and cart. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the metal surface.
