A preserved natural history entomological specimen, likely a Common Cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha?), presented in an open-wing display. The beetle features a robust, segmented abdomen in shades of reddish-brown, with a textured, hairy ventral surface. Its rigid elytra are extended outwards, revealing the delicate, translucent hind wings beneath. The specimen is mounted between two layers of glass, consisting of a flat rectangular glass base plate and a circular domed glass cover. The dome is secured to the base with a dark-coloured sealant around the circumference of the rim. The interior of the display shows a fine accumulation of dust and debris consistent with age.
Diameter: 6.2 cm
