A vintage educational cutaway model of a horizontal steam engine, constructed from heavy cast iron? and steel. The model is mounted on a rectangular cast base and features a cross-sectional view of a single-cylinder engine, with the internal components finished in white and red paint to illustrate the mechanical operation. The assembly includes a D-slide valve mechanism, piston, and cylinder, connected via a yellow-painted rod to a crankshaft and a six-spoke flywheel. A vertical governor mechanism with a spring assembly is positioned above the cylinder housing. The reverse of the unit shows the simplified grey-painted casting and a small black handle attached to the flywheel for manual operation. A small circular mark is present on the base but is not legible as a name or specific manufacturer.
