A British police-issue cylindrical whistle of the Metropolitan pattern, constructed from nickel-plated brass. The whistle features characteristic dual-tone sound holes and is accompanied by a steel curb-link chain with a hook fastener. Stamped onto the top shoulder rim are the words ‘THE METROPOLITAN’. The upper body bears the stamped word ‘PATENT’. The central body is impressed with the text ‘BUCKS SPECIAL CONSTABULARY’ arranged in three vertical lines. Below the sound holes, the lower body is stamped with ‘J. HUDSON & CO’, ‘244 BARR STREET’, and ‘BIRMINGHAM’. The address at 244 Barr Street indicates a production period between the late 19th and mid-20th centuries.
