A Victorian three-piece dressing table set comprising two button hooks and a small grooming brush. Each piece features a highly decorative sterling silver handle rendered with repoussé foliate and C-scroll motifs. The grooming brush has a cream-coloured mounting for the bristles, which is stamped with the word FRANCE. One button hook features a handle decorated with trailing leaf and husk motifs attached to a tapered steel shank. The other button hook possesses an ornate handle with scrolling acanthus leaves and a central blank cartouche. This handle bears several marks on the neck: a rectangular cartouche containing the initials B D, followed by a lion passant, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and a lowercase letter u in a shield. The shanks of the button hooks are constructed from steel.
