A 1930s Belco Ware darning set comprised of a spherical wool holder and a mushroom-shaped darning tool. The set is constructed from a dark brown mottled phenolic / bakelite resin? with a polished finish. The spherical wool holder is formed of two hemispheres joined by an internal screw thread, featuring four raised vertical stabilizing ribs to each section and a single aperture at the top for yarn dispensing. A brown textile hanging cord is attached to the base. The companion darning mushroom features a wide, smooth convex head atop a tapered handle. The base of the wool holder is impressed with the circular marks BRITISH MADE and BELCO WARE, a central AB monogram, and the registered design number 797286.
