A hand-knotted wool pile tribal rug of Shiraz origin. The carpet is constructed with a wool pile on a wool foundation and features a traditional geometric design on a vibrant madder-red field. The central composition consists of three linked, stepped diamond medallions with latch-hooked edges, rendered in ivory, navy, and terracotta tones. The field and medallions are densely populated with various geometric tribal motifs and stylized zoomorphic figures, including bird-like forms. The central field is enclosed by a wide navy-blue main border with an all-over repeating geometric pattern, flanked by multiple guard stripes featuring running ‘S’ and geometric floret motifs. The weave is of medium density, characteristic of nomadic tribal production from Southwest Persia.
