A collection of UK cupro-nickel Two Shilling (florin) coins spanning the reigns of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II, with visible dates ranging from 1947 to 1961. The coins from the reign of George VI (1947-1952) feature a reverse design depicting a crowned Tudor rose flanked by the thistles, shamrocks, and leeks of the home nations. The early issues from 1947 and 1948 bear the legend FID DEF IND IMP, while issues from 1949 onwards omit the IND IMP title. The coins from the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (1953-1961) feature a revised reverse design with a central Tudor rose surrounded by a circular arrangement of thistles, shamrocks, and leeks. All coins carry the denomination TWO SHILLINGS and the regnal title FID DEF. The collection is housed in three clear plastic pocket sheets which exhibit significant age-related yellowing and degradation. A small white adhesive label on the plastic sheets is printed with the number 1225. A larger handwritten white adhesive label reads No 1952s.
