An early 20th-century stained oak armchair and matching footstool set in the Jacobethan revival style. The armchair is designed with characteristic barley-twist (solomonic) front legs and armrest uprights, while the rear legs and armrests are of rectangular section. The piece features a slung-style backrest and a fixed seat, both finished in brown synthetic leather (vinyl) upholstery and secured with large, decorative dome-headed brass-toned upholstery tacks. The matching footstool is supported by four barley-twist legs joined by squared stretchers. The construction throughout employs traditional mortise and tenon joinery. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
