A Victorian brass fireplace fender of traditional U-shaped form, constructed from sheet and cast brass components. The design features three barley twist rails supported by upright brackets, with each rail topped by a spherical ball finial, totalling six finials. The central portion of the front rail is embellished with an applied decorative scroll relief motif. The fender appears to be of an extendable design, with a central overlapping sleeve section allowing for width adjustment to fit various hearth sizes.
