An adjustable brass fireplace fender of curb form, constructed in three telescoping sections comprising a central sleeve and two sliding side sections. The side returns feature twin horizontal rope-twist rails supported by decorative uprights and surmounted by ball finials. The front face is embellished with cast scroll and acanthus leaf motifs, and a central flame-style finial is positioned above the main rail. The base rail has a stepped profile and features a small decorative embossed cartouche at the centre. The fender is of cast and formed brass construction. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible.
