This sculpture is a production of the A. Santini studio in Italy, depicting a stylised female figure after the Danseuse au Cothurne model by Agathon Leonard. The figure is captured in a dynamic leaning pose, dressed in a long, flowing garment characterised by fine vertical ribbing and voluminous ruffled sleeves. The subject wears a pleated head wrap and is depicted barefoot, with one arm extended forward and the other reaching towards her raised heel. The piece is constructed from a fine-grained, off-white bonded alabaster resin and is mounted upon a circular, stepped, black-finished plinth. The integral base of the sculpture is incised with the model number 1614, a copyright symbol, the signature A. Santini, and Italy.
