This Royal Crown Derby bone china plate is decorated in the Old Imari pattern, number 1128. The decoration is executed in a traditional palette of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron red, and 22-carat gold gilding. The design features a central six-lobed floral medallion, surrounded by a border of alternating panels containing stylised floral sprays and geometric red and white scale-pattern trellis work. The techniques include transfer printing for the outlines with hand-applied enamel colours and extensive hand-gilding. The reverse of the plate bears a red printed maker mark consisting of a crown above a circular interlaced monogram, surrounded by the words ROYAL CROWN DERBY and ENGLISH BONE CHINA. Beneath the primary mark are the pattern number 1128 and the Roman numerals XLV, which indicates a manufacture year of 1982.
