He is holding a stack of four multi-coloured books under his right arm and stands beside a brown suitcase with straps. The circular, grey-toned base is incised with the name Tom Brown on the front. The underside bears the Royal Doulton backstamp in black, featuring a lion atop a crown and the text Made in England, Royal Doulton, England, Tom Brown, HN 2941, Hand made and Hand decorated, and copyright 1982 Royal Doulton Tableware Ltd. Additional small handwritten marks are present, including a green 4 and a small black dash.
