A late 19th or early 20th-century recording barograph by Negretti & Zambra, London. The instrument is housed within a polished oak case featuring five bevelled glass panels and a decorative brass carrying handle to one end. The internal mechanism comprises a stack of seven aneroid vacuum capsules connected via brass linkages to a balanced recording arm with a metal nib. This records onto a paper chart wrapped around a cylindrical brass drum containing a clockwork movement. The baseplate also features an integrated mercury-in-glass thermometer mounted on a silvered brass scale, graduated from 30 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit with markers for Freezing, Tempe Rate, Heat, and Blood Heat. A white rectangular plaque to the frame is inscribed Negretti & Zambra London. The lot includes a substantial quantity of spare recording charts by Casella, London.
