A late 19th or early 20th century glazed ceramic tobacco jar and cover, modelled in the form of a man’s head featuring a prominent moustache and brown hair. The figure is depicted wearing an off-white or cream-coloured pith helmet, which functions as the detachable lid. The face is finished in a pale celadon-green glaze with hand-painted details for the eyes and facial hair, while a dark blue glaze is applied to the base and the chin strap. The underside of the jar features the incised model number 1035.
