A Victorian taxidermy deer hoof inkwell, likely from a Roe deer. The specimen is mounted on a circular, bevelled oak wall plaque. The end of the hoof is fitted with a dark metal cap, possibly silver-plated or base metal, featuring a distinctive serrated saw-tooth edge. The interior of the metal cap contains a pink-coloured reservoir lining, identifying the piece as an inkwell. The hoof retains its natural hair and dewclaws. There are no visible maker’s marks or hallmarks present on the metalwork or the wooden base.
