A large Italian majolica display charger of circular form, featuring a Renaissance-style profile portrait of a bearded warrior. The central figure is depicted looking downwards, wearing highly decorative armour rendered in shades of green and gold, embellished with intricate scrollwork, floral medallions, and beaded borders. The subject is set against a mottled, atmospheric deep blue background with painterly white highlights. The reverse is finished in a plain creamy-white tin glaze and includes two pre-drilled holes in the foot rim for suspension. The front upper right edge is signed in a blue-black glaze Cimatti Faenza. The reverse shows small kiln stilt marks from the firing process.
