A large figural mantel clock in the Rococo revival style, surmounted by a gilt metal figure of a classical female figure holding a sickle and sheaves of grain, likely representing the harvest goddess Demeter. The figure is set atop a black-finished central pedestal section which houses the circular clock dial. The white enamel dial features black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minute numerals from 5 to 60, set with two winding apertures and ornate pierced gilt-metal hands. The case is further embellished with scrolling foliate, shell, and floral gilt-metal mounts, terminating in an elaborate pierced base. The movement to the reverse features a floating balance wheel and is stamped with a circular maker’s mark and the serial number 8611, consistent with mid-20th-century production by Imperial Lancini with a movement by Franz Hermle.
