Buyer's Premium:

A large late 19th-century ebonised and gilt-metal mounted bracket clock of architectural form, designed in the Baroque taste. The ebonised wooden case features a prominent caddy top surmounted by a cast gilt-metal urn finial and further decorated with scrolling foliate mounts. The dial is flanked by two large gilt-metal female caryatids. The tiered plinth base is adorned with scrolling gilt-metal appliques and stands on block feet. The decorative dial features a gilt-metal ground with a cast centre and twelve individual white enamel cartouches, each bearing a blue Roman numeral. It has two decoratively pierced black-finished hands and two winding apertures to the dial face. The clock is fitted with a mechanical two-train movement and is accompanied by a T-shaped winding key. The design and decorative mounts are highly characteristic of models produced by the German manufacturer Lenzkirch. A white rectangular inventory label marked 4932 is applied to the side of the dome.
