Buyer's Premium:

This Continental hard-paste porcelain pedestal vase is decorated in the high-relief Capodimonte style and is attributed to the firm of Samson, Edme et Cie of Paris. The flared, trumpet-shaped body is relief-molded with a continuous battle scene depicting medieval knights in plate and mail armour, with some figures on horseback, all finished with hand-painted polychrome enamels. The lower bulbous section and the tiered pedestal base are further decorated with gilded scrollwork, floral motifs, and diaper patterns. The underside of the base bears a hand-drawn script letter S in blue underglaze, alongside impressed marks 71 64 and the letter E. The interior contains a central threaded metal rod and nut, indicating the piece was originally manufactured as a component for a larger assembly, likely a table lamp or a multi-tiered candelabrum.

Rim diameter: approximately 9.5 cm.
