A late 19th or early 20th-century ceramic six-cup egg basket or egg stand. The rectangular stand is designed to hold six eggs within circular apertures and features a prominent ribbed overhead basket-style handle. The outer body is moulded with a basketweave texture. Crafted from glazed white porcelain or fine earthenware, the top surface is decorated with a blue and white transfer-printed design of scrolling foliage and flowers. The rims, handle ribs, and base edge are highlighted with hand-applied gilt lining. The glazed underside is unmarked, showing only a faint, illegible oval residue stain in the centre.
