A pair of oil paintings on board depicting rural landscapes in the traditional nineteenth-century British style. The first work is a copy after John Constable’s ‘The Hay Wain’, featuring a horse-drawn cart crossing a shallow river beside Willy Lott’s Cottage. The second composition shows a pair of thatched-roof cottages along a dirt track flanked by mature trees under a blue sky. Both artworks are housed in matching, heavily ornate gilt-plaster moulded frames decorated with scrolling foliate and shell motifs. On the verso, one piece is backed with a dark-toned board, while the other is a plain wooden panel.
