A pair of Louis XV style side chairs constructed from stained carved hardwood. Each chair features a shield-shaped padded back with an ornately carved foliate and shell crest rail. The over-stuffed padded seats are upholstered in a gold-toned damask fabric with a repeating floral and scroll pattern, finished with brass-headed upholstery tacks along the borders. The frames are supported on four cabriole legs, featuring carved shell and foliate motifs to the knees and front aprons, and terminating in scroll feet. No maker marks or labels are visible on the frames.
