A large Japanese porcelain floor vase decorated in the Satsuma style, likely dating from the late Meiji to the early Taisho period. The vessel is of baluster form featuring a wide, flaring fluted rim and a stepped pedestal base. The cream-coloured ground is decorated with hand-painted overglaze polychrome enamels and extensive raised moriage detailing. The main narrative panel depicts a group of figures on horseback in traditional historical costume, possibly representing a military procession, set within a landscape of stylised trees and mountains. One figure carries a large orange banner displaying a circular white emblem with a stylised black character for longevity. The reverse and surrounding areas are embellished with large floral blossoms, including peonies and chrysanthemums, interspersed with butterflies and clouds. The neck and foot are decorated with geometric borders, including shippo-tsunagi patterns, in a palette of iron red, cobalt blue, and gold.
