This cast bronze sculpture depicts a male figure in elaborate late 16th or early 17th-century European dress, identified by its iconography as a portrait of the Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens??. The figure is modelled with a full beard and a characteristic wide-brimmed hat, wearing a detailed doublet with a lace-trimmed ruff collar, puffed and slashed sleeves, trunk hose, and stockings. He is shown in a relaxed stance leaning against a classicised rectangular pedestal. The work features a deep chocolate-brown patina and is set upon an integral tiered rectangular bronze base. The upper surface of the base is stamped with the mark BRONZE in uppercase characters. No further maker signatures, foundry marks, or edition numbers are visible.
Height: 40 cm.
