Another Great Auction
A Royal Doulton fine bone china figurine titled The Wayfarer, model number HN 2362. This character study depicts a seated man with a red beard and hair, wearing a black-and-white chequered flat cap, a green coat over a brown buttoned waistcoat, and grey trousers. The figure is portrayed holding a cream-coloured stoneware-style jug in his right hand while holding a small white pipe to his mouth with his left hand. The subject is seated upon an irregular, textured base finished in earthy brown and green tones. The underside of the piece bears comprehensive green printed markings including the Royal Doulton lion and crown factory mark, the title The Wayfarer, model number H.N. 2362, and a 1969 copyright date for Doulton and Co Limited. It also features four registration numbers: Rd No 942055, Rd No 54809, Rd No 11896, and Rd No 488/69. A small hand-painted potter’s mark in black is also visible on the base.
