Another Great Auction
A glazed polychrome porcelain bust manufactured by the Metzler & Ortloff factory in Ilmenau. The figure portrays a young boy with fair hair and blue eyes, dressed in a blue and white collared garment. The boy is modelled holding an apple in his right hand and a biscuit or piece of bread in his left. The underside of the base features a circular underglaze factory mark in grey-green. This mark includes the text METZLER & ORTLOFF, ILMENAU, and GDR, surrounding a central motif composed of a stylized letter M above crossed hammers and a letter O below. The GDR designation indicates a production date between 1949 and 1990.
