Another Great Auction
This lot features a trio of sterling silver items, all bearing hallmarks for the Birmingham assay office. The first item is a footed egg cup of classical form, stamped with the maker’s mark H.C (attributed to Henry Clifford Davis), the lion passant standard mark, the Birmingham anchor, and the date letter e for 1904. The second item is an oval salt cellar or small dish featuring a fluted and lobed design with a flared rim. It is marked with the maker’s mark L&S for Levi & Salaman, the lion passant, the Birmingham anchor, and the date letter a for 1900. The third item is a napkin ring with a flat-sided profile and rounded corners, engraved with the initials R.E.W. The hallmarks include the maker’s mark W.A for William Adams Ltd, the lion passant, the Birmingham anchor, and the date letter y for 1923.
