Buyer's Premium:

This set of seven silver spoons comprises six smaller tea or coffee spoons and one larger serving or preserve spoon. Each item features an ornate, cast handle with foliate and scrollwork decoration, terminating in a unique heraldic finial. Every finial displays a different coat of arms surmounted by a coronet. The bowls are engraved in a cursive script with the names of various French cities or regions, identifying them as souvenir spoons. Visible inscriptions include Nancy on the larger spoon, and Pau, Tours, and Nimes on the smaller spoons. The spoons bear French silver hallmarks on the reverse of the bowls: the Minerva head (tête de Minerve) within a shaped cartouche, the standard mark for solid silver, and a diamond-shaped maker’s mark lozenge containing a letter P and other symbols.
