Another Great Auction
A circular silver-plated dish manufactured by Elkington and Co for the Cunard Line shipping company. The dish features a stepped, tiered rim and is centrally engraved with the Cunard company crest, consisting of a crowned lion rampant holding a globe between its paws, above the name CUNARD in capital letters. The base is struck with multiple marks including the pattern number 35942, a heraldic shield symbol, the maker’s initials E and Co within individual rectangular boxes, the words ELKINGTON PLATE and ENGLAND, and a capital letter U within a shield-shaped cartouche, acting as a date code.
