Another Great Auction
A George III sterling silver caddy spoon, hallmarked for William Stevenson, London, 1819. The spoon is decorated in the Queen’s pattern, featuring an ornate handle with scrolling foliage, rosettes, and a shell terminal. The front of the terminal is engraved with a stylised cursive monogram. The piece is constructed with a wide, round, and shallow bowl. Hallmarks on the reverse of the stem include the duty mark of George III, the lion passant standard mark, the date letter d for 1819, the crowned leopard’s head for the London assay office, and the maker’s initials WS for William Stevenson.
