Another Great Auction
A George V sterling silver sauce boat of traditional George II style, manufactured by Edward Viner (Viner’s Ltd). The piece features a scalloped rim and a leaf-capped, flying C-scroll handle. The body is raised on three cabriole legs with shell-moulded knees, each terminating in a hoof foot. The exterior surface displays a natural aged patina and bears a clear set of hallmarks on the side. These marks include the maker’s mark E.V, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant for sterling silver purity, and the date letter X for the year 1922.
